"...the White-O is conceived with two opposite wings which contain the main program of the house. Since all the activities (bedroom, kitchen and services on one hand and dining room on the other) are condensed into two separated spaces the connection paths between these areas assume a fundamental role. The space in fact changes with the activities in the house. The connection branches confer a sense of tension in the house. The rhythm created by connecting different compressed spaces through stretched elements is characteristic of the White-O....“The White-U creates the experience of an underground passageway with its interior enclosed, while the ‘White O’ with opened interiors gives the experience of floating aloft in the sky,” says Ito in describing his project."
